Typhoon Nock-Ten

My mousehand looks a hundred years old.
When a typhoon comes a-knockin’
Right now, the island is buzzing with talk about Typhoon Nock-ten, which is expected to pass very close to our area sometime tomorrow.
I’ve filled the car with gas and have been to the grocery store for supplies. All that remains is to fill the bathtubs with water. I hope I won’t have to use the water and supplies, for that would mean no electricity or running water. I don’t know about you, but I like electricity and running water. Especially running water.
Nock-ten? Who comes up with these names, anyway?
Be safe, wherever you are.

I remember the days when we would gather “stuff” in preparation for a typhoon. Ah, life growing up on Guam. I know what you’re going through! Be safe out there.

no kidding about the “send us home already”! we were supposed to get out by noon, but i didn’t get the “you may leave” until 4. not that i had supplies to gather, i just wanted to get the hell outta work.

Same here! We weren’t released until 4, either. It looks as though we’re not going to get hit hard by this one, which is great because all I wanted was a storm big enough to get a day off from work, but not do any damage. 🙂

Nock-Ten!? Wow, that’s an easy name to remember. I had a hard time remembering the other names.

Nock-ten is Laotian for “bird”, and it’s hitting Taipei as I type!
