Tonight’s Newscast Brought To You By…You

My pal Jason has been hard at work coding and building a new section of kuam.com called Citizen Correspondence that enables people to upload and tag not only images but also audio AND video files to the KUAM website. You can even send your files directly from your mobile phone. The exciting part is KUAM plans to use the files for a new user-generated content segment they’ll be promoting this year.
I expect a lot of folks will upload things like personal home videos of their kids and stuff like that. But wouldn’t it be cool if someone uploaded footage of a crime being committed or something scandalous and news-breaking? I like the idea of empowering people to share their stories.
So get that camera out and have it with you at all times. You just never know when you’ll happen upon something amazing!
(Great work, Jason!)

Thanks for the nod, buddy! You know I appreciate it. I do hope it takes off like we’re expecting it to. I’m crossing my fingers/toes that the majority of stuff folks upload is kosher to use on the air and on the web.
From time to time we get stuff that’s…let’s just say…”objectionable” for the moral majority on our community photo gallery service.
But yeah, we’re hoping it’ll spurn a lot of on-the-spot community reporting. 🙂
