Talofofo caves

The view of Ipan, Talofofo and beyond from Window Rock (click to enlarge):

Hiking to Talofofo caves was fun. I rate it easy to medium because there is some climbing and crawling involved. The trail is clear and it is very slippery when wet. I slipped a few times and actually fell on my butt once. But the view from Window Rock was worth it.
If you’re ever driving through Ipan Talofofo, look up to the cliffs and you’ll see a rock formation with a hole in it. That’s Window Rock. If you hike to the caves, there’s a trail that will lead you to a ledge in the center of the “window”. Pretty cool. I wondered before how one would get up there, and now I know.

Okay, you are definately going to have to take me hiking when I come for a visit (hopefully next year, just in time for the Mangilao fiesta). That looks FUN!

Hi Josie, I went to Dungca Beach with my mom yesterday, and the sunset there was beautiful! That’s kind of where Rick’s Reef is, isn’t it? I wonder what the little island out there is like.

I always wondered what it would look like up there, or if anyone could get up there at all…Now that we live in Talofofo perhaps we should make time to do some exploring =)

Trench, the hike is not arduous at all. It takes longer to drive down to Talofofo (from central) than it takes to get to the first cave. It’s all through the jungle so you’re not out in the open sun. Your wife could probably hack if you guys took it nice and easy (and drank a lot of water, though I prefer Gatorade). Happy trails!
