My own private Dilbert
As someone whose job is entirely dependant on computers and a broadband connection, it is my experience that when faced with a stringent deadline, one or all of the following will occur:
– The computer will crash and require rebooting, sometimes several times. It does not matter if you’re using a Mac or PC.
– The printer will suddenly need new ink or require cartridge head cleaning/alignment or will just altogether stop communicating with the computer.
– Once you’ve found a new toner cartridge (after searching the building for one) and are in the process of replacing the old one, your phone will start ringing.
– While in the process of printing your file, the power surges and causes the printer to reboot and you have to start all over again. On Guam the power might just go out for a few minutes for no reason.
– Someone will walk into your office with a question that needs an immediate response and/or will need you to leave your office to meet with a third party in their office.
– Look at the time. It’s probably around 4:45 p.m. You have to get that file out by 5:00.
– If you have to transmit your files electronically, the internet will be down. If it’s not down, for some mysterious reason the broadband connection will be reeaalllly sloooooooow. The activity monitor says it’s going to take 50 minutes to transmit a 2 Mb file.
– The IT/Network Admin person is gone for the day. You just missed them!
yeah work blows when you have to keep hittin the Neustart-Taste.
Ja! Ich weiss!
Aww you poor thing. Hope your day gets better!
