Big sister is not watching.

Things might look a little funny around here while I update some templates and style sheets. I’m working to configure the commenting system to require author validation and/or registration. I know registering can be a pain and inconvenience, but you’ll only have to do it once and none of your info is shared (unless you want it to be). This will help me combat spam and moderate comment abuse.
Also, I feel I should say a few words regarding my site statistics and IP tracking. After Friday’s rant, a number of people emailed me to let me know they visit my site often, several times a day even, and that I don’t have to worry about them being a potential stalker because their IPs show up so much. I am not at all worried about that and please, please, don’t feel you have to explain yourself. Just so you’ll know, I don’t sit in front of my computer tracking IPs all day. Unless you post a comment or use the form on the contact page to send me a message, there is no way of me telling who’s who when it comes to IP addresses. I know crazy girl’s IP because she posted an anonymous comment on my website once and her IP was logged. If you have a broadband connection, your IP is probably going to be the same everytime you comment or view my site. If you have a dial-up connection, your IP probably changes everytime you connect to the internet. It doesn’t change much, but it does.
I just want to reassure everyone that I am not monitoring you or watching you from the other side of your monitor. (haha–wouldn’t that be a trip!) I took an interest in tracking crazy girl’s IP because of her adamant claims that she never visits my site. But enough about her. I primarily use my site statistics to see who’s linking me so I can check out their site and perhaps link back. Cool?
