Breaking The Code

I watched The Da Vinci Code last night with Julie and it was, in a word, funny. Some scenes bordered on ridiculously funny. Just look:
I was fine as long as Silas aka Paul Bettany aka The Sinister Albino Monk wasn’t onscreen. But I’d lose it and giggle uncontrollably as soon as he’d show up and smolder his way across the screen. We’re talking about the same Paul Bettany who played Chaucer in A Knight’s Tale and said, “Yes, behold my lord Ulrich, the rock, the hard place, like a wind from Guilderland he sweeps by, blown far from his homeland in search of glory and honor, and we walk in the garden of his turbulence.” That Paul Bettany.
That I found loads of humor in Paul’s performance is probably what saved me from walking out a couple of times and going to play a round of whatever arcade game they had out in the lobby. The film was kinda boring and silly and the performances were just way over the top. And as cute as Audrey Tatou was in the film, I like her better when she’s speaking in her native French.
I’m thinking the movie would have been a lot more fun and interesting if Julie and I had played the Da Vinci Code drinking game. Three stars.

i’m boycotting the movie until it’s on dvd…i’ve read the book and don’t want to spoil the “movie experience” with a watered down version of what’s already in my mind as a good story. anyway, you should have played galaga instead…

Galaga would’ve been great. I didn’t read the book and maybe my expectations were high because of all the hype, but yeah…wait for the dvd.

Annalynn scream twice because of the sinister albino monk. She screamed pretty loud and had me laughing pretty hard both times.

yes.. movie could have been a bit less comical and more action packed.. but it wasn’t… it had it’s moments.. Silas had me squirming in my seat with all that flogging… a few parts were more idiotic than comical… overall.. yes.. 3 out of 5 stars was a great rating… XMEN3… woohoo.. that was off the hook…
