Happy Good Luck Waving Cat

About a year and some months ago during a Chesterhouse happy hour, I told Mike I had always wanted one of those happy good luck waving cats you see in chinese shops and sushi bars. It wasn’t until after we’d started dating that he admitted he had “searched high and low” for a waving cat because he wanted to leave one at my doorstep for me to find, but alas, there was no waving cat to be found on Guam at the time. A few months later someone gifted him with a waving cat which I thought was unfair since it was me, ME! who really wanted one.
Last week we were poking around in one of those all-purpose Chinese shops and what did I find? A waving cat! “You can’t buy your own waving cat,” Mike says to me. “Someone has to give it to you.” I put the waving cat in his hands. “So go pay for this, then.” And that was that. Now everything is right in my world because I finally have my very own happy good luck waving cat.

I am extremely easy to please.

I’m jealous! I’ve always wanted one too. I saw one in Toronto once which was HUGE! I was so incredibly tempted, but didn’t know how I would get it home. I keep finding solar powered ones, but they are very small. I think yours is perfect.

i found a set of magnet ones at the airport in Japan on a layover once, also, the ones at Kamakura were different in appearance than the usual fare at J-town restaurants.

Naomi and I think it’s a toss-up between the waving cat and the Travelocity garden gnome! 😉

What a sweet story. It’s truly the simple things and little gestures that really affect me more than any expensive gift or namebrand item as well.
I have a black waving cat. Although her arm doesn’t move up and down, it still waves. They’re called maneki neko.
The gold one Mike gave you symbolizes hope for prosperity and fortune to come your way.
The black one, which I have, symbolizes protection from intruders and harm (fitting since I once had a stalker and .. well u know the rest).
    =^.^= miss u girl!
