Fino’ Chamorro

Sadly and rather embarrassingly, I am not fluent in chamorro and it’s only because I haven’t taken it upon myself to seriously study and learn it. I wish it had been a required subject when I was in school and I wish I had asked my father to teach/speak it to me when I lived at home. I have a couple of chamorro language books and I do try to practice…but it’s a slow-going process. I really need to step it up.
I applaud Ray’s promotion of the chamorro language in this campaign message. I’d really love to see more of this kind of thing.

Do you spell it chamorro or chamoru?

You’re lucky. At least you have access to those resources. My parents deliberately barred me and my siblings from learning their native languages. Why not sprinkle some chamorro vocabulary into your speech? That way it sounds cool and might start up a trend!!
