Exploring the Great Barrier Reef

Today I crossed something off my bucket list and went diving at the Great Barrier Reef for the first time!

The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef system composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2,300 kilometres (1,400 mi). The GBR can be seen from outer space and is the world’s biggest single structure made by living organisms. It was selected as a World Heritage Site in 1981. CNN labeled it one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

We spent the day out on the reef with Passions of Paradise aboard their sleek 82-foot catamaran. They made my first diving abroad experience easy and memorable.
