Daydreaming

What would you do with $10,200.00? Would you buy a watch?

I wouldn’t. I’d buy a couple of plane tickets and take my best friend to Paris, London, New York City, Chicago and Hawaii.
What would you do with ten grand? And don’t give me something lame like, “Pay off a student loan or credit card.” I want to know how you’d blow ten grand.

No, I’d use the money to pack up and move to New York City. Just to go for the gusto, satisfy my wanderlust, hit that old dusty trail and many other cliches related to getting the hell out of a life you’re sick of.

I would buy my son the best gaming ensemble an 11-yr old would want, to make up for the boredom I’ve subjected him to at home. We are hardly home and I refuse to buy a new TV or sign up for cable. So he would get a 42″ Sony Wega, Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3, complete with games. $3000.
Then I would throw the best Holiday Party ever…and splurge cocktails on my favorite people. $1500
Finally, I would put it toward a trip that I could take with 6 of my friends. $3000
For myself, I would buy a lavish sofa. $1500
And spend the rest to spiffy up my car. I need new tires, a new clutch, an oil change and am in dire need of a detail. $1000

You’re not going to like this one, but… 10G down payment on a house 😀 And then the remaining 200 on Wii stuff.

  5. Joel says:

I’d go on a trip to Costa Rica, Bali, Tokyo, and the Boracay Islands with my mom.

10,000 Vanilla Ice albums from walmart. I’d listen to every one…
I’d take it in cash and stowaway on a ship to Bangladesh. I’ll retire on the 10k and live the rest of my life in a little fishing village on the coast.
    Or…
I’d buy a new Jet Ski and a second hand truck to pull the Jet Ski.

I’d buy a round-trip ticket to Spain and live there until the money runs out, living frugally of course, not like a rockstar, so it would last awhile. I’d take pictures, eat, write whatever came to my mind and just “be”.

  8. LeeAnn says:

I’d use it for the entry fee to the World Series of Poker. Once I win that, I plan on retiring to Boracay.

  9. Patti says:

I would “blow” the $10,000 on a family of 3 mid-winter (sometime in February) trip to Little Dix Bay located on the island of Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands. It is heaven on earth! At $500 a day for a room, we’d be able to stay for about a week 🙂

  11. Marina says:

I could buy a 6-person outrigger $7000 for the team and one of my very own with the remaining $3200.
Or I could be the tiniest bit practical and buy a newer car so that my daughter could have mine – I’d get a Jetta to run on BioDiesel and drive a french fry smelling mobile.

  12. Marina says:

Wait – I’d pay to take my sister and cousins back to Guam and they could stop being jealous that I get free trips home on business! Would $10,200 cover 4 1st class tickets? If not, we’ll make Chris ride coach. He’s the youngest.

  13. inna says:

a family trip to the philippines- to visit family and friends and explore the islands with brent, kailea and kaitlyn (with a side trip to guam, of course). we won’t splurge, just enough to enjoy the trip without worrying about our budget. after the trip, i will surprise brent with a weekend get away at a resort & spa in big sur.
i’ll make sure my mom and dad get a great vegas weekend- hotel, restaurants, shows, spa…and some dough for their favorite slots 🙂
dream over? i think i went over the limit 🙂

After the price of airfare for me and hubby, plus and a few extras, the remainder of the 10 grand would let me stay in one of these delectable huts for just a little over a week.

pinarello prince, new cycling shoes, a case of 1998 bordeaux, and two months off so i can do my own personal tour de france, thank you very much…p.s. extra inner tubes and a change of a saddle (selle italia flight saddle, i’m pretty modest when it comes to saddles) and a change of tires (continental gp400s) for my tour 🙂

  16. vincenzo says:

wait! maybe just two cases of bordeaux 😀

  17. trench says:

I’d love to blow 10 grand. Honestly though, I would pay off my student loans. Those things are hell on earth. I can’t wait to get rid of them!

  18. Jason says:

Definitely not on a watch. I’d take the wife and kid on a vacation to either Europe (Spain, Portugal, Italy) or Asia (Philippines, Hong Kong, Thailand).

  19. anon says:

I would go on a shopping frenzy, and go on a night out in LA! Shopping pretty much on Robertson (at Kitson, Alice + Olivia, Lisa Kline)and The Grove. Then I would eat dinner at Koi with the friends.

  20. Brian J Que says:

Pay off some of those med school loans. Grrrr……

  21. Brian J Que says:

Uhm. Sorry. I must have missed that last sentence to you blog, Josie. Hmm….. go on a trip to Dallas an watch the Cowboys play during the last year they will in the orignal Texas Stadium. Been following this team since the young age of 7… and can you believe I still haven’t seen them play a live gam? 34 and getting old…. must go… Dallas…. must go.

  22. Jason Salas says:

I read once that in today’s economy, most people will earn at least a million bucks during their lifetime. But landing $10,000 in one pop? Hmmm…
    I’d probably:
    – Send my parents on one of those schmaltzy Carnival cruises
    – Pay my sister’s posh Newport Beach rent for a year
    – Treat all the unofficial nieces I’ve got who call me “Uncle Jas” to ensure I continue to spoil them rotten a kick-ass Chuck E. Cheese’s party
    – Use the leftover change to buy myself a nice double-scoop of rocky road

  23. Leo says:

    Europe, totally.

  24. Lescentive says:

i’d take a flight to europe and canada… have as many flings as i can handle …
