Camping 101

I hiked down to Sella Bay to recon and determine whether it was a nice spot to spend the night. Actually, I already knew it was a beautiful place to spend a night as I’ve hiked down there before. The real purpose of the hike was to answer important questions like, How difficult would it be to haul a cooler filled with ice, beverages and lots of cheese and junk food down the mountain and through the jungle? You know, in addition to the usual camping gear, tents, packs, and miscellaneous snorkeling gear.

However difficult the task, it would be totally worth it to be able to wake up early and enjoy breakfast and coffee on the shores of the quietest and gentlest bay on Guam.

The cooler sounds like a good idea right now, but you may not like it when it’s time to haul the thing around. We took a cooler on a hiking/camping trip to Shark’s Hole. Even though the cooler had wheels and was at first going over a mostly flat, sandy surface, the guys ended up floating it in the water and dragging it because it was such a pain to lug. And this was not hiking down/up a mountain and through jungle.

wow. sometimes your pictures look even better than real life. and you’re right. waking up to a scene like that would be worth it.

another option is to have a friend boat in the cooler and equipment. it is beautiful down there! have a great time.

  4. Yeah, use a boat if you’re bringing down a cooler. And that is an excellent place to camp, done it myself quite a few times.

i’m sorry you don’t have an REI out there on Guam. camping is so much better with a little stove and titanium silverware (light really works when lugging stuff around)…

    Hi Josie,
I want to let you know that I would like to recommend your website to my community out here in the states. My trade is sales and marketing and I usually have a good number of followers/friends who at least look at the sites/products/events that I recommend.
Hands down, your photographs of our home have been some of the best I’ve seen.
Given our “history”, I wanted to make sure that you are okay with my recommeding your photos to refer to about Guam.
Let me know. Obviously if it is not okay, I won’t recommend the site. If it is, then great – your website will be seen by thousands more in the U.S., Australi, Europe, Asia and I will have amazing photos to refer people to when they express interest about were I come from.
    Let me know.
