Two Truths and a Lie

1. I sang “Manic Monday” in a karaoke contest at the 1986 summer carnival and came in 7th place out of 50 singers. I was 13 and didn’t know what the lyrics “Come on, honey, let’s go make some noise” meant.
2. One time Addison let me ride his motorbike and I accidently dropped it because it was heavier than I thought and my feet couldn’t touch the ground when I stopped. There were some minor scratches to the paint. Addi was SO MAD.
3. I won a districtwide essay contest in the sixth grade and the principal of my school called my name at assembly to come up and receive my award. He mispronounced my last name so badly that the whole school was laughing so I chickened out and didn’t go up to claim my award. My homeroom teacher gave it to me the next day.
Can you guess which one is the lie? I’m not telling you (maybe later).
Let’s play. What are your truths and lie?

Number 2! I don’t think anybody could ever be mad at Josie 😛

  2. Katie says:

I really can’t imagine Addi being “SO MAD” so I think you’re fibbing about the motorcycle story.
    Do tell!

  3. Josie says:

    Ha! Two more truths:
    1. Addi has been “so mad” on more than one occasion. His kind of anger is the worst kind: the supressed, festering kind. Be thankful he doesn’t work at the post office!
    2. Many people have been mad at me in my lifetime (I bet some still are). But thank you for that kind compliment, Cristina!

  4. Haji says:

#2: It seems too easy to believe (that a guy would get mad for the scratch); and too much to believe that he would let you ride it (alone?) if he found the motorbike and its paint so dear.
#1 makes me wonder if 13 year olds in 86 were that naiveI dont rememberAnd #3 seems silly enough to be true (not about winning! about pronouncing ur name).

Addison adores you and so I highly doubt that it’s #2. Wow. That statements sounds kinda weird. #2. Okay here’s my two truths and a lie.
    1) I swam the Great Barrier Reef and climbed Ayers Rock in Australia.
    2) I was dropped in a cheerleading competition while representing JFK at a Far East Japan.
    3) I’ve climbed Mount Hood here in Oregon.

  6. Brian Que says:

I’m going to go with #1 being the lie. Only because you seem way to reserved to enter any sort of contest where hundreds of people will scrutinize you closely. I mean if you were too shy to accept a certificate in front of a laughing crowd… you would never get up in front of a crowd of people to sing.
