The Good & The Bad

You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have…
Good: Inheriting the first three seasons of Sex & The City.
Bad: Inheriting the first three seasons of Sex & The City because your friend moved far, far away.
The Result: Finally understanding all the references your friends make to the show.
Good: Buying a new cameraphone online for cheap!
Bad: The battery turns out to be a dud.
The Result: Having to spend a little more for a new battery, but altogether still less than half the price of buying locally.
Good: A VISA® card that gets you 20% off airline tickets.
Bad: Not getting the discount because no one told you about the promotional code to enter at checkout.
The Result: This was eventually sorted out manually by the bank.
Good: Learning French on cd during the morning and evening commute.
Bad: Not having any immediate plans to travel to France.
The Result: Feeling like an idiot two weeks from now in Japan, kicking myself for not buying Pimsleur’s Quick & Simple Japanese instead of French.
Good: Losing a few pounds.
Bad: A co-worker asking loudly at the water cooler, “Girl, what kind of CRACK are you smoking because you have lost so much weight!”
The Result: Making a killing on crack sales in the employee parking lot.

Happy Holidays and have fun in Japan. Just remember “nihon go o sukoshi desu ne” which means “i speak little japanese”. That’s what I remember from selling Sunglasses to tourists at Micronesia Mall.
