CNN Shows Outer Island Clips Instead of Guam

This is all over Myspace and email today:

The CNN news story on the Guam caucus used a few “Guam” clips – actually they were showing footage from a past Christmas Drop with a C-17 flying over Ulithi or one of the other outer islands of Micronesia with the natives waving below. The clip also shows a grass shack from one of the islands as I guess they thought it was a typical Guam home. Here is the story:

In case you were wondering, on Guam we don’t live in huts or walk around in grass skirts (unless you work in the tourism industry and your job requires you to wear a costume!). And I haven’t waved at a plane since, I don’t know, NEVER. I’ve always had doubts about how much of the news is factual, and this does nothing to reassure me. Boo on CNN. Boo!

LOL Josie…I’m sorry for laughing (because that is HIDEOUS), but the thought of you guys wearing grass skirts and waving to a plane cracks me up! It’s so ridiculous!!!
“Hey man, I’ll meet you at GPO, but first I gotta go put this on and wave at a cessna real quick.”
I hope they fire the sorry CNN interns who found that footage of “Guam.” And who approves this stuff? Unreal.

Right? The only thing I can think of that would make it any more ridiculous is a clip of someone driving a f**king carabao cart. OMG.

That was so funny yet horrible at the same time.
BTW: It was C-130 flying over with the “Guamease” in grass skirts waving.

is there an alternative to CNN in Guam? when i lived there in ’04, I remember FOX news coming in, but that station is pure toxic waste. can you guys at least get BBC World now or something else from Asia?

dude i looked up this dude- cause well i was hoping to find an explanation. .. but instead i found this:
Prior to CNN, Todd had served as a reporter for Guam Cable TV in the Pacific Marianas Islands; a sports producer for WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh and a sports producer for WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C.
    uh.

LOL sorry for laughing too. It’s actually pretty sad, especially since we got some idiot pundit saying how there hasn’t been this much attention to Guam since World War II, then all of a sudden the camera turns to kids in grass skirts.
CNN was once useful as a source for breaking news, but they’ve lost much of the credibility it once had, and has become somewhat of a joke in the media world.
I mean, for chrissake, they wanted to interview ME.
