Breaking Bread

030406.jpg
Thanks for this very easy recipe, Disneymike! It is so good hot and freshly baked, I may never buy white bread from the store again!
Disneymike’s White Sandwich Bread
1 1/2 teaspoons instant yeast
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 to 3 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1/4 cup dry milk, non-fat powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/4 cups water
4 tablespoons butter or margarine, cut into pieces
Place the ingredients in the pan of your machine in the order indicated. Place the pan in the machine, program your machine for its basic setting, and press Start.
*I used my machine’s basic setting with a light crust and it turned out perfect. I’m only sad because we’re out of Nutella.

    Don’t worry, it’ll be back soon. šŸ™‚

  3. We had a bread machine in my shop in Iraq. We just used boxed recipes, but it was better than chow hall bread. Of all the places to fall in love with freshly baked bread right?

I’m so jazzed you tried my recipe and enjoyed the bread. Isn’t it crazy how good it is for such a simple recipe? I like it because it doesn’t come out dense like a lot of bread machine recipes tend to. šŸ˜€

you know what you should try? instead of using water…use beer…no seriously, i don’t think you have to adjust the amount of yeast as long as you prep the yeast into its little home on top of the flour. anyway, i like using pyramind ales or microbrews. also, wheat is something i’ve tried in my breadmaker. i’ve also used it as a pizza dough maker with the beer recipe. try adding all sorts of crazy stuff like rosemary or oregano—even cheese and see how it comes up. the rosemary makes your kitchen smell really nice šŸ˜‰

    i guess i should be a little more clear on that….*ahem*…what i meant to say was wheat-flour … šŸ™‚

Cool. Just yesterday I was telling a coworker that I was going to experiment with rosemary and other herbs. šŸ™‚
