Good news if you live in Dededo or Tumon. Now you have a choice in digital tv service providers: GTA Teleguam has launched their Digital TV service in the villages of Tumon and Dededo and will be expanding to other villages soon.
When I first signed up with MCV many many years ago, Guam Cable TV was the one other cable service provider on Guam. I paid $25 a month for basic cable service until Guam Cable TV closed up. Almost as soon as MCV became the sole cable service provider on Guam, they raised their rates and continued to raise them almost every year since. I don't know how much basic cable service costs now because I don't have cable anymore, but a year or so ago I think I was paying double the price I signed up for.
Competition is good all around. It helps to keep prices in check and pushes companies to improve their services and offer incentives to one-up their competitors. I can't imagine what we'd be paying if Guamcell was the only cellular phone service provider on Guam or if Continental was the only airline on Guam. It's always good to have a choice.
i pay 102.99 for cable and internet.. per month.. i have the 2nd highest speed with MCV for the internet..
