Moving On

I'm moving this weekend.

I'm saying goodbye to the cute 3bd/2bath house that I've rented for the last three years and am moving into the cutest (and coziest) 1bd/1bath apartment that I ever did see. So, as you can imagine, I'm going to have to purge myself of a lot of stuff...junk...baggage, if you will. This has several different meanings and all I can say is that I am really looking forward to lightening my load.

I sign the lease tomorrow and I think I get my keys tomorrow. Have I started packing or preparing? Hell no. But this is my plan of attack: On Sunday, Roel, Phil and Ken will load up their trucks with all the stuff I plan to keep...which isn't a whole lot since my new pad isn't nearly as spacious as the house (but dude, it is so cute, wait'll you see the pictures). Anyway, everything I plan to get rid of will be left at the house. I have the house until mid-July so I'll have some time to sort all the left behind stuff into three Clean Sweep piles: For the Dump, For Charity, and For Garage Sale. I'll let you know when I have the garage sale and maybe you can come and buy a plate from me for like ten cents. Ok, five cents.

Also, and this is the saddest part about moving, I need to find a home for Leeloo. I considered taking her with me, but she's so used to being outside and out & about, it'd be so wrong to confine her to a little apartment. She needs a yard. She's sweet, a great guard dog and she's been spayed. Know anyone?

Did I mention how cute my new place is? Ronnie tells me I'm within walking distance to the best cheeseburger joint on the island. AND my drive to work will take like ten minutes. Life just gets better and better.

I'm really proud of you. And the metaphor won't be lost - move out, grow, change, adapt, move on. Such a positive change couldn't happen to a nicer person.

I'll gladly fork out $0.07 for your Macbook if you're willing to part with it. :-)

Congratulations on moving on! It sounds like a great place. :)

I love moving - it's a great opportunity to change things up, let go and reevaluate the stuff I've been holding on to. I've been trying to get Billy to "reevaluate" his 25-year-old poncho - I don't think he is ready to part with it just yet but maybe by our next move.

Please reconsider keeping Leeloo, she is your dog and she will be happier with you even if she has to move indoors. I don't mean to be harsh, but animals are not just baggage we can unload when it becomes inconvenient and they don't suit our lifestyle anymore. You still need a good guard dog living in the big city!

wow. Great move. I love smaller places. Just easier to clean and feels more cozy.

Hope you find a good home for your girl.. Thats the only reason my wife and I have not moved into a smaller place. I just can't let my boy live confined in a condo and I can't see myself giving him away.

If I lived on the island I would adopt LeeLoo in a heartbeat. My dog loves playmates.
I could never part with my puppy :(
Hope Leeloo finds a happy home. Do you still have your kitties?

Ps.
7 cents for your macbook? I bid 10 cents... in shiny new pennies!

Say, anyone on the rock want an iphone?

Said sahr on 07. 1.07 at 4:45 AM

Moving is tough! Did it a couple of months ago and sorting the keepers from the gift/donation/trash bin is a pain.

I'll help you though... I volunteer to take the Nikon. :-)

sahr: I thought the iPhones were locked. Saw online someone putting in other Sims and they didn't work.

As someone who's moved more times in her life than she'd like to count, I say good luck! And that one of the most satisfying feelings in life is whittling down your possessions and getting rid of that baggage! Wish I could help you pack, which is weirdly something I really enjoy.

Josie,

Hey ya! I brought my two boonie dogs to Maryland with me. If you would like, put Leeloo on a plane and I would gladly give her a home and yard!

a new environment is always good when letting go of things and whatnots... i have mine in storage at the moment, not real sure what to do with the items, selling might be a logical choice.
btw, what are you selling? lol....

glad the move wasn't extremely dreadful, but moving from a large space to a small one, means alot of expunging.

miss ya,
ange
