Just a few weeks ago, I sat at that very bar and chatted with my girl Nadia while I waited for my fish burger to arrive. I am so sorry to say it will be a while before I can enjoy that again.

From Nadia:

As many of you know, my restaurant burned down yesterday in an apparent electrical fire which started in the drop ceiling of my restaurant, collapsed the ceiling and engulfed the restaurant in flames at 1 am August 22. There has been speculation that the fire started inside the restaurant but that is not the case and we do cook with gas not electricity. Luckily, no one was injured since the fire occurred while we were closed.

While we are dealing with this devastating loss and the excessive damage, obviously the restaurant will remain closed until further notice. Luckily, we did have insurance and we are looking into the possibility of reopening soon. We are grateful for all the people who have been generous with their time, resources, and support during this unfortunate situation and I will certainly keep everyone posted on anything that changes...

The good news is The Mermaid is going to rise from the ashes, y'all. You know you can't keep a good woman down for long.
