As far as I can tell, the Guam Coastal cleanup effort at Taga'chang beach was a huge success. About thirty people were there and I'm proud to say all of the volunteers were local. "I was the only white person!" says Addison. I hope the other cleanup sites around the island saw as much success.

Can you believe we picked up all the cans in that bag from just the jungle area around parking lot? I was glad to see Ambros was one of the sponsors of the event, seeing as most of the cans are of the Budweiser variety and they are the Bud distributors on Guam.

We were only there an hour before the rain really kicked in, but by then everyone was pretty much done. Addi and I picked up enough trash to fill two large trash bags and we also filled up another with just aluminum cans and glass bottles. We've decided to participate every year from now on, and at a different beach each time.

Later on this afternoon we're going to enjoy our reward for our good deed: free admission to Fish Eye Underwater Observatory.
Thanks you guys! :D
When we signed up we were instructed to put all cans in a separate bag, so I hope that stuff gets recycled. Also, EPA was going to the different cleanup sites collecting any batteries or tires anyone might have found. Hopefully that will get receycled as well.
Great pictures, Josie. I wish I could helped. Now do you guys plan on recycling all those cans to get some sort of money back from them? Anyhow, please keep going with the pictures. I'm missing Guam already... and compared to Hava JAva.. starbucks just doesn't cut it.
