"ANATAHAN VOLCANO UNDERWENT A MAJOR ERUPTION OVERNIGHT...RELEASING VOLCANIC ASH AND GASES UP TO AN ALTITUDE OF FIFTY THOUSAND FEET. SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS THE ASH CLOUD EXPANDING SOUTH AND EAST FROM ANATAHAN HAS MOVED OVER TINIAN AND SAIPAN. IT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS GUAM AND ROTA BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON."

It remains to be seen if the huge cloud of ash thwarts our plan to take the motorbike down to Chamorro Village tonight. Good thing I refilled my asthma inhaler...I'll probably need it later.

Josie, please do not forget your asthma inhaler and please do not forget to take some photos of the sunset with all the ash in the atmosphere. Hopefully, Guam will get some spectacular sunsets that you can post on your photoblog!
